Our Journey
Five years ago, our teachers attended a week long PBL 101 Workshop. The School Governance Council (comprised of community members, teachers, parents, and the principal) decided on a strategic plan goal that students would demonstrate an increased use of Critical Thinking Skills across all content areas. Project Based Learning units were implemented in all grade levels.
Two years later, the School Governance Council created another goal to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into a cohesive program focused on real-world applications. A new STEM Lab was opened in 2018. Students attend STEM class every other week. Students use the Four Cs (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking) and the Engineering Design Process as they focus on problem solving. STEM is integrated into PBL units and classroom activities as well. The School Governance Council also created a goal of Creek View becoming a STEM Certified School.
Combining Project Based Learning and STEM, we added two more Cs (curiosity and compassion) to create the Six Cs. These concepts will help steer our process to STEM Certification. We have a vision to support and cultivate life-long learners who create positive change in the community and world. Our mission is to engineer curiosity and foster the joy of discovery through collaboration and real-world problem solving.
